We woke up to a covering of snow this morning. Since the ground was already hard and frozen it's likely to stay with us for some time. We live on the highest ground so when it melts down in the village below, our snow stays.

No3 son has been off school with a filthy cold so I made sure he was well wrapped up for an outing on the moor behind the house. This is him beside one of many stick piles that can be found all over the moor. One of my near neighbours tidies up the moor regularly (a bit like Fulton Mackay's beach dwelling character in Local Hero which is one of our all time favourite films). She's affectionately known as The Stick Lady. She also owns Pepper, as seen on the side bar.

There's something about snow that makes me feel all Christmassy. Now I've got the Fayre out of the way I can start to plan. My parents won't be joining us this year so we have an opportunity to do something a bit different on Christmas Day. No idea what though!

What a splendid house! Do you know it's history - architectural or otherwise? Just the sort of place OH and I are attracted to. Enjoy your snow - we just have blardy miserable freezing and black ice.
BB, our house was built in 1934 as staff accomodation for the big house next door (you can just see it to the left in the photo) Over the years bits have been added as they were needed.
In the early 80s someone put it all together as one house with an annexe. It looks huge but only has 3 bedrooms. Every room in the house is double the size of 'normal' rooms. The tower used to hold the water tank that supplied the big house and gardener's cottage. It's just a big empty space now accessed by a Ramsay ladder.
We love our house. It's very unique!

Your home is beautiful, simply stunning
Thank you for your lovely comments on my home. It's a little run down and some bits need a lot of attention. We've rewired it and repaired the roof. Inside still needs a lot of re-decoration as it's very 80s in style with dark wood and weird wallpaper! But that's just cosmetic. It's definitely a lifetime project for me but we'll get there in the end :)
