About Me

My photo
I'm a 45 year old mother of 3 boys. I live in a beautiful old house that needs a lot of TLC with my youngest son and 2 dogs. I am working hard at keeping myself healthy and fit by working out and doing a spot of running. I'm a creative person and am passionate about keeping traditional skills alive. I cook, knit, bake, garden, preserve, read, write and am now learning to spin and quilt. Oh and I sometimes swear.....

Thanks!

Aww, thanks everyone for your kind comments and not falling about laughing at the thought of me doing a triathlon!  I really am committed to giving it a go.

Part of my thinking process made me remember the amazing woman that was Jane Tomlinson.  She ran marathons and did triathlons while in the terminal stages of breast cancer.  She raised millions and her family still raise a huge amount of money in her name.  If she can do it so can I!

Most of you will know it's been a difficult week for me.  I was sorely tempted to write about it here but I promised at the start of this blog I would not use it to grind an axe against Ian.  I'm sorry to say I posted a status update on FB that I'm not proud of but I have now removed it.  Thank you so much for all the supportive (and funny!!) comments but I hope you understand why I had to remove them.

This is just a wee setback.  The big picture is still positive. It would be nice to have someone by my side to share all the good stuff that's going on in my life now.  But I know one day I might be lucky enough to find someone who will stand by my side.

I have truly amazing friends.  To those of you who take my sobbing phone calls at ridiculous hours of the night, I thank you from the bottom of my heart (again!)  To those of you reply patiently and wisely to my hysterical texts, I thank you (again!) To those of you who take the time to leave me comments and send me emails and messages on FB, I thank you.  A kind word and small acts of kindness go a long way.  I hope to repay you all one day.

So......... Are you ready for me to start blogging about the boring minutiae of my triathlon training????

Good for you, thinking about a tri myself Ali. Started adult swimming lessons to improve my technique during the summer and it has made a big difference. If you can find a qualified swim instructor it really does help and the classes are actually a hoot! Kept me interested when I could have easily have not bothered.

Keep posting on your progess
