About Me

My photo
I'm a 45 year old mother of 3 boys. I live in a beautiful old house that needs a lot of TLC with my youngest son and 2 dogs. I am working hard at keeping myself healthy and fit by working out and doing a spot of running. I'm a creative person and am passionate about keeping traditional skills alive. I cook, knit, bake, garden, preserve, read, write and am now learning to spin and quilt. Oh and I sometimes swear.....

Brain Food

One of the things I have been thinking about recently is whether I should finish my psychology degree with the OU.  When I first started studying my intention was to become an educational psychologist but I quickly realised that I preferred working with children in a classroom setting.  But recently I have been thinking about my future career and trying to work out if I want to stay in teaching or go in an other direction.  I still haven't decided one way or the other yet, helped by the fact that there aren't enough teaching jobs!

But I have decided that I want to complete my degree.  So starting next month (EEEK!!) I'm studying Social Psychology - critical perspectives on self and others.  Catchy course title! It's a compulsory third level course (ie the hard honours bit) so my brain is going to get a bit of a shock!  It also means that I've got something else to put on my CV when applying for jobs.

So in 2011 the triathlon will give me my health and fitness focus and studying will feed my brain.  BRING IT ON!

Great news. At least you'll have lots of case studies. xx
