About Me

My photo
I'm a 45 year old mother of 3 boys. I live in a beautiful old house that needs a lot of TLC with my youngest son and 2 dogs. I am working hard at keeping myself healthy and fit by working out and doing a spot of running. I'm a creative person and am passionate about keeping traditional skills alive. I cook, knit, bake, garden, preserve, read, write and am now learning to spin and quilt. Oh and I sometimes swear.....

Even Pollyanna had bad days!

My mantra of late has been to stay focused on the positive things in my life.  Whenever I have a bit of a wobble I do try to find something positive about the situation.  In fact I've been channelling Pollyanna so much I have even annoyed myself!  No one can be positive ALL the time, can they?  Even Pollyanna struggled to find something to be glad about after her accident!

Well, I recently had a bit of a wobble.  In fact, it's fair to say I fell off the positive wagon in a rather spectacular manner.  And fell into a deep dark place that quite frankly I didn't want to return from.  It was a bit scary down there.  But a couple of good people pulled me out, kicked my arse and reminded me that I could do anything I want.

The good thing about hitting rock bottom is that you can only go up.  I recently watched a rare JK Rowling interview.  She talked about the lowest point in her life when she was a struggling single mum and had no idea how she was going to cope.  Looking back she now recognises that "Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life."  Look at her now!

I'm re building my life from the bottom up.  I've declared that today is the start of my new year. And my new life.  Happy New Year! xxx
