I'm a 45 year old mother of 3 boys. I live in a beautiful old house that needs a lot of TLC with my youngest son and 2 dogs. I am working hard at keeping myself healthy and fit by working out and doing a spot of running. I'm a creative person and am passionate about keeping traditional skills alive. I cook, knit, bake, garden, preserve, read, write and am now learning to spin and quilt. Oh and I sometimes swear.....

My, my, my Delilah

Meet Delilah. Isn’t she pretty? Delilah arrived 10 days ago but I’m afraid I didn’t let her out of her box for a week (don’t ask!!) And then when I did she needed her handlebars and pedals attached. So I waited a few more days and then did that today. I also bought myself a helmet and gloves. So, there’s nothing stopping me going out a cycle now. I think I’m ready. I know I’ll fall off but once I’ve done it, it won’t feel so scary. Right?

No more excuses. I’ve got everything I need now (except a nose clip for swimming, don’t ask!!!) so tri training just got cranked up a notch. Eeeek!

I did my first proper trail run this week. And got my pretty pink shoes all dirty. 3 days later I’m still scrubbing the mud out my toenails (thanks Clark!) and I have a bruise the size of a tennis ball on my calf (thanks Cori!!) I was extremely chuffed that I managed to run most of it including the hills! Legs were rather sore the next day but I’m definitely getting fitter.

I didn’t swim last night cos I was feeling poorly yesterday so I need to get myself to the pool for a session on my own at some point. My ears and throat have been sore but I’m sure it’s just the bug/virus that seems to have swept Crieff. I’m pretty healthy and don’t seem to get ill to the same degree as other people. I just feel grotty for a day or 2 and then it quickly passes.

In other news, my OU course officially started this week. And I’m loving it, loving it, loving it! So far I’ve been looking at the words and music of Hey Jude, Bjork’s ‘Undo,’ The Streets ‘Dry Your Eyes’ and Stevie Wonder’s ‘Have a talk with God.’ All brilliant tracks. Next up is some ecclesiastical stuff. It’s going to be a very interesting course.

Woohoo hunting has been going well. In fact, not doing any actual hunting right now. You all know what I'm talking about right? ;-)  Not taking it too seriously and just having a lovely time.

So a busy week comes to an end and an equally busy weekend looms. I’ll be glad when Monday comes and I get a long lie as it’s half term.

Hi Ali

Great bike and good to see the pick shoes with some dirt on them!

Look forward to hearing about your first ride.

The bike looks good Ali. Have they told you how to measure saddle height properly? If your saddle is too low it can give you knee problems. Take care on the road!

Davie, BEHAVE!!!! Lol! ;-)

Very very pleased with my bike. I know the saddle isn't right yet. I'm just taking it out for a wee test run this afternoon. Then I'm getting it checked over by a mechanic and fitted properly to me.

Hopefully I'll have some video footage to post but if I fall off I'm not posting it!!

Ali x
