About Me

My photo
I'm a 45 year old mother of 3 boys. I live in a beautiful old house that needs a lot of TLC with my youngest son and 2 dogs. I am working hard at keeping myself healthy and fit by working out and doing a spot of running. I'm a creative person and am passionate about keeping traditional skills alive. I cook, knit, bake, garden, preserve, read, write and am now learning to spin and quilt. Oh and I sometimes swear.....

Think Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Every woman should examine their breasts regularly and every guy should be encouraging their woman to put their health first.

So this morning in light of the all the publicity I did my regular examination after watching a 'how to' video.  I was pretty much doing it right except for one thing.  So I added the bit I haven't been doing. Well, maybe with a sinking feeling you've guessed where this is going. Yep, I found something that wasn't quite right.  T-o-t-a-l freakout.

Long story short, I've spoken to my GP by phone (after sobbing hysterically to the guard dog of a receptionist) and I'm seeing someone tomorrow. I've been reassured that 9 times out of 10 it's probably nothing but early detection saves lives.  Remember I'm focusing on the positive. Hopefully it's nothing, even better it's been caught early.

Maybe I shouldn't be posting about this but I've promised that I'm going to be honest with myself.  And the aim is to look back and see how far I've come. It certainly puts other stuff into perspective.

There is a school of thought that life/God/the universe never gives you more than you can cope with. Well something or someone seems to think I can cope with a fucking truckload of shit right now!!!

If it's the same doc I go to you were very brave phoning for an appointment - I hate that b receptionist - just what you don't need! I am sure it will be OK - stress, time of month etc etc can all effect things. Fingers crossed for you. Difficult things often come together - maybe they come at other times too, you just notice them more when the chips are down. Take care, Ali.

Top girl with the breast fondling.
Even more top girl with the immediate phone call and breaching the guard dog.
Top most girl for swearing in your blog. I love it!
I'll give you a bell tomorrow.xx
